The world is comprised of large power blocks that struggle for resources to accumulate the base of more power - military, political, economical. These levels of power are intertwined and reenforce each other. This struggle has led to a global resource crisis of unprecedented dimensions which puts the very fundamentals of this system in question and could lead to a truly global transition.
Consensus is a very general solution to any problem. But a "global consensus" can't be considered an Alexandrian pattern. Why? Because it is not an option in a design process. No designer can say: ok, let's push that button and have "global consensus". To see something and feel "I like that" doesn't constitute a pattern. It may constitute a framework for continuous action, and require a pattern language. You could create a "pattern language for global consensus" perhaps. -- HelmutLeitner July 14, 2010 11:23 CET
