  • Outline for the "Global Villages" book by Franz Nahrada
  • German version due in spring 2023 at ProMedia? publishing house in Vienna
  • Maybe write adapted versions for English and Russian speaking word?
Title: to be determined (Maybe just „Global Villages“ with subtitle Size: about 300 pages book print

Motto:

"The globalisation of media, if pushed to its very extremities, will lead to an unprecedented renaissance of the local" (Marshall McLuhan according to Corinne McLuhan in a personal letter)
.

This book takes a double stand:

  • on the one hand, against the still ongoing politics of economic globalisation, whose increasing vulnerability and exorbitant costs are becoming more and more apparent;
  • on the other hand, against a variant of deglobalisation policies that seek to cut all global connections indiscriminately and advocate a backward-looking autarky.
Rather than that, the book develops a world model in which local autonomy and cycles are enabled and strengthened through global networking.

The very existence and possibility of „Global Villages“ is their access to electronic networking.

Global knowledge cooperation and – to some extent - targeted transfers of resources should build up a new integration of human settlement and way of life with the respective potentials of the cultured landscapes around them, according to their respective character.

Such approaches to „in situ urbanisation“ worldwide are the answer to the obsolete world of megacities. The term "Global Villages" is chosen for the abstract model of this way of settling and living, even though the book covers all aspects of „cosmo-local“ development and brings together seemingly unrelated perspectives.

So here is the initial plan
