Discussion about the Network Project

The name NetzProjekt doesn't seem to express what it's about. Perhaps a more descriptive name could be found.

With respect to the developments towards a knowledge society, I see a lot of different forms. The consumer=producer is an important idea, most ideally implemented in the WikiPedia, perhaps. But there are many other forms, that use knowledge as a property or gradient. So I do not see certain practices emerging, but much more a knowledge ecology.

For example, it will be interesting to see how universities develop in that direction. They will have to open up, publish some of their lectures, maybe even support remote studying. But its unclear, whether this service will be available in a social form, for the best of society, cheaper and more open than now. A worse case might transform universities into knowledge and status production factories offering knowledge as a consumer good.

Yes, the name is probably not the best idea, but all that stuff needs shaping anyway, so please regard name, place etc. as preliminary. I hope to add some more thoughts and links within the next days. Here in the Dorfwiki is plenty related stuff that I'm not yet aware of in detail - this was the main reason to start my recent activities just here. -- HansGertGraebe
