Alive Province Publishing House is a project, that aims to create a system of new possibilities for local places development in Russia.

The "Enlivened Province" Publishing House is a project that aims to show examples, tools, theories and success stories of new possibilities for local development in Russia and support knowledge exchange.

We chose the term "Province" intentionally: many people associate backwardness with this word, we think that the endless land is the great source of wellbeing and prosperity in our country, allowing people to flourish in many different ways.

The Publishing House is a part of a bigger project, which includes expert center, consulting, education, information distribution. They have to carry out real work, aiming to build new reality in Russia (or not only). Book publishing is only a part of that work, which supports all the other parts.

The Publishing House is a part of a bigger project, which includes an expert center, consulting, education, information distribution. They have to carry out real work, building a new reality in Russia and beyond. Book publishing is only a part of that work, which supports all the other parts.

In the historic books that we already published we proved that Russia is the source of models that could, combined with modern technologies, lead to rural rejuvenation in our country and worldwide and balance the drain of population to the megacities. Therefore we adress everyone who is interested in stopping and reversing this problematic trend and inventing farms, villages, small and medium towns for the 21st century embedded in flourishing local and regional economies.

We welcome contributions from all sciences, we also seek to carry international experts books on these subjects translated to Russian Language, and we want to see the best and diverse theories and models be tested and proven in reality. This is why our publishing activities will be linked to educational and research activities.

We also seek partnerships with likeminded publishing houses abroad for translating and distributing works.

Our Internet shop

Internet shop “Alive province” we create together with few dozens od small Russian regional publishing houses (in order to have broader assortment of products, as at the beginning we can’t have enough books to fill the site) It also makes us more known, gives a status and ability to create joint (cooperative) publishing projects with other publishing houses and diminish costs. We plan to do it.

We want to create - together with few dozens of small Russian regional publishing houses - a common internet shop, in order to have a broader choice of media, than if we just advertised our own.
It also makes us more known, gives us a status and ability to create joint (cooperative) publishing projects with other publishing houses and diminish costs.

3 Some thoughts
Publishing House and other directions

Book publishing should be combined with offline work (club, meetings, seminars, forums), which work also as customers attraction and sales.
Expert network (council) is one of the most important blocks of that work. It should have Russian and international branches.
International network is operated by Global Villages Network (GVN) and I support the work of GVN.
We try to unite interesting and important experts and bring the number of ideas, know-how, concepts of new local (glocal) way of life and local development practice to Russia.
One of the ways of doing it is publishing of books of GVN experts in Russia, which is supported by creating of information stream, events, meetings, seminars, etc. Russia is a good place to do it, as we have some market here. But we can also promote it later in the West. Then it will be right to have a partner publishing house in Europe (or maybe few).

An expert network (council) is one of the most important blocks of that work. It should have Russian and international branches.
Internationally we will work with and support the growth of the Global Villages Network (GVN)founded by Franz Nahrada in 1993. The GVN is the most media-oriented and information based global approach to local development.
We try to unite interesting and important experts and bring a big amount of ideas, know-how, concepts of new local (=glocal) ways of life and local development practices to Russia.
One of the ways of doing this is publishing of books of international GVN-affiliated experts in Russia, which is supported by creating of information stream, events, meetings, seminars, etc.

There could be few ways of cooperation with Global Villages Network (GVN) One of the ways is attraction of municipalities to GVN sites and social media. We do it, teaching them to promote themselves abroad.
How can we start it?
- Gleb starts his own more active information work in English.
- We carry out seminars for local authorities and activists how to build partnerships and promote themselves. We can retuen to idea of bringing groups of activists from diff. countries to ant municipality in Russia, which is very interested in it. This group comes in order to bring new ideas, rise understanding.
We should also think about broad range of very practical topics for seminars (paid seminars), which can be hold in Russia (we bring an expert to Russia) or in Europe (we arrange group trips to Europe).
What it could be? Something like herbs cultivating as local business or permaculture or f.e. specific experience of a certain place (like Mondragon).

One of the variants is that we create a popular book like a small town manual or a monography series of small town stories of development. We write books about a town in Austria, Italy or in former Yugoslavia republic or in Csech republic.
It should be interesting to the Mayor of that place, as we might help to attract "learning tourists" from Russia.
And we (I) can also work with arranging tours like that. For the beginning we need one good and successful book. It could be translation of one of Transition towns stories (Totnes or another).
Or Uzhupis in Lithiania.
Or Steinbach in Austria It is not everything. Let’s think it over.
