Gisela Bosch

Gisela Bosch, Dipl.-Ing. (FH) has been working in the Austrian Institute for Sustainable De-velopment (ÖIN) in Vienna, Austria (www.oin.at) since 2003 and is mainly responsible for the areas of development and implementation of sustainability processes in enterprises and local communities. She holds many years of experience in teaching and qualifying people in knowledge and implementation skills in the field of sustainable development.

Before joining the ÖIN in 2003 she was with the Sustainable Europe Research Institute (SERI) for 3 years and worked at the University of Florida (UF) for 15 years. At SERI she worked in evaluation and research in addition to her responsibilities as chief coordinator for an EU 5th framework research project on the evaluation of national research programs on sustainable development. At UF her research projects were in the areas of anaerobic digestion of organic waste and solid waste management. In addition she organized the international conference “Green Building Material’96”, conducted research projects on construction waste and its reduction potential, arranged annual seminar series on various aspects of sustainable development (general overview, community based and built environment), initiated and de-veloped "Greening UF", a sustainability movement to redirect research, teaching and admini-stration towards sustainable development. She organized an international and interdisciplinary workshop on “Construction Ecology and Metabolism” and she developed and taught courses in sustainable development and integrated solid waste management in Poland.
