Sonokhar is a village with 1200 inhabitants approximately 100 km south of Delhi. Entrepreneur Anil Chawla from Delhi is trying to set up a project to create a meaningful cluster of industrial activities to sustain a holistic development of the villages and its environment along the idea of GlobalVillages.

Global cooperation, partnerships and ideas will make this project successful. These pages represent a "work-in-progress" that challenges people around the world to contribute their ideas, knowledge, networks and passion.

1. /Background

Despite 60 years of government efforts in India, development has not occured as envisioned by the enlightened people who took over the reins of government after attaining independence from the British. Why?

2. /Situation

Sonokhar presents a typical case, where despite even its proximity to the capital of India and efforts of the government, development goals have not been realized with the result that this village and its sorroundings are extremly poverty - stricken. It is reasonable to assume that a similar situation prevails in other areas around the country. Yet Sonokhar is an ideal case to try out-of-the-box thinking to create a due model for rural and industrial development which then can be largely replicated. The base is existing in many forms and here is what gives us the hope.
